There's nothing in the book that lines up with Satanism or anything of the occult, nor is there any mention of religion, especially not any specific religions. For readers of The Hunger Games books and fans of the movies, it's a little confusing how the story could be deemed occultist or Satanic. But the novel makes it very clear that these are horrible. Every action by the Capitol ruling the fictional country of Panem, especially The Hunger Games is morally and ethically wrong. The actions throughout the series are extremely unethical. As for the ethics, it's a little less black-and-white. Browse The Hunger Games Books in paperback, special edition boxed sets, eBooks, and more. The Hunger Games was turned into a movie which was released in 2008, and the other two movies subsequently. At least for the main character, there's no sense of anti-family themes to substantiate the claims. The Hunger Games is a trilogy with a prequel released in 2020 titled The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. I had no experience with Graham technique – and very limited experience with modern dance in general – before becoming involved with this project. I now know this to be an integral part of Graham technique, which involves isometric exercises designed to highlight and enhance the strength and power of the physical body. This would be done through a focus on equal and opposite forces. It’s true that the shapes made through Graham’s choreography are not the demurely graceful ones of classical ballet and the quality of movement created by her early technique is not classically feminine – that is, silken and smooth – either.ĭuring those first few weekends of rehearsals with Jennifer Conley, she spoke to the dancers about “shaping the space” with their bodies.
